The word JATA means 'matted hair'. Locs symbolized the sacrifice of vanity made to God by allowing the hair to form whatever way feels natural. We recognize life as a journey & just as your experience tells a story, SO DOES YOUR HAIR! If you're searching for grounded, natural yet out of the box; look no further. Loc Culture
Locs date back to 1500 BC with no speculation. The first written historical evidence of locs comes from India in The Vedas (Hindu Holy Scriptures). Even though there are speculations of African tribes & even Egyptians that wore locs, the evidence isn't as plain. Most will quote that it was the Jamaican natives but the Rastafarian religion didn't form until around the 1930s.
